I. Minutes approved
as corrected from July 10, 2008.
II. Old
business
- Membership report: Judy D. presented the 2009 membership letter for approval.
Suggestions were made for edits.
- Treasurer’s report: Debits, $166.55 Total funds available: $1702.15.The
largest expense was for the tents rented for the picnic in July.

- Rescue report
Rescue update: Earlene
resumed the coordinator position 09/01/08
The picnic fund raiser brought in $495.00 (silent auction and sales)
ASTR requests financial help from CSTC due to many dogs and high expenses for
some of them. (Need the amount of expenses from Earlene at next board meeting.)
Motion from Judy H, seconded by Veloris to make all of the Christmas auction
proceeds go to ASTR. Board approved the motion.
Earlene reports ASTR now has 501(c)3 status.
Other fund raising options for ASTR:
1.“sponsor a Scottie”
2. CSTC will match individual donations (match to be limited to $300.00 total)
in a fund raising campaign organized by ASTR. Motion for this plan from Judy
D, seconded by Ruth and approved by the board.
- ASTR and CSTC thank Ellen and Roger Starr for hosting the picnic.
Thanks to all the volunteers who helped (Patty Beverly, Veloris, ASTR committee,
Judy Decker, Judy Herring, Eddie and Sandy Quinn, John Cordell and Lois
Bennett) who helped to make this year’s picnic the great success that it
was.
- Report from Ellen on the cost/member/year. If we have 65 members the cost
is $18.00/member/year. Motion from Judy H, seconded by Nola that membership
dues be increased to $17.00/individual and $22.00/family for 2009. The board
approved this motion.
- Poinsettia/Scottie planter sales: Board decided against this project for
2008.
More work than warranted for the amount earned.
- Volunteers for “card party” in October: Cards will be made at Ellen Starr’s
home on a date based on Ellen’s schedule. Card will be made to recognize
donations from CSTC to ASTR in memory of members dogs who have passed away
beginning in 2008. Judy D’s Rachel, Mainville’s Candy, Earlene’s Angus, Judy
H’s Hobbes, Felisa’s Abby as of today.
III New Business
- Membership renewal
form and letter (See membership report above.)
- Board elections for 2009: 2 terms
expire 12/31/08.
Ellen agrees to run for full term.
Judy H and Jan P will be the nominating committee. Jan will contact Josh
and Michelle Rappuhn who have expressed an interest.
Elections to take place at the Christmas dinner 12/07/08.
- Annual Christmas auction: Judy H will serve again as auctioneer.
The club will solicit items by November.
- Veloris will explore insurance options for 2009.
- Upcoming events:
Sep. 21: Dr. Genova’s
talk on pet allergies. At 3PM, building at the Charbonneau exit from I-5.

Oct: 24-26: Beach trip, Saturday lunch, Sunday PJ breakfast
Nov: 8: Halloween party at pupparrazzi 1:30-3:30 PM (we have the room 1-4
for set up and clean up.) Costumes for dogs, club to provide cider and cookies.
